Stripped

by Tara Greene

The man said, This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman.

Stripped is a new piece of writing developed by Tara Greene who most recently performed in The Belfast Ensemble’s Abomination: A DUP Opera; and funded through the SIAP Award from Arts Council Northern Ireland.

Stripped is a story of sexual violence and our generation’s reliance on social media to project a heightened more glamorous version of ourselves as a means of coping with or deflecting from our material reality.

Stripped is a dreamlike sequence that coincides with monologues Tara has written, combining striking imagery with an influx of social media activity, to portray this resistance between the character’s dopamine fuelled social media obsession and coming to terms with the stark reality of the assault they have suffered.
